Is that the one that Westlife covered? I haven't seen the advert, but it looks like you are searching on Youtube, who are in the middle of a war on music..
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecrX1D3WibM
It's definitely not Cat Stevens, whoever it is!

I haven't seen the ad but is it this one?

Quick Google search says Westlife and Scott Fitzgerald sang it

Nah they're the ones I found on Youtube, she says there's a slower version, the original and my parents both concurr but none of them know who is was and its so frustrating!
Thanks for all your help so far though

Maybe thats just what they made themselves though?

    If I Had Words
Original song by The Vards feat. vocals from Shane Filan & Mark Feehily
^ Also known as the westlife version.
Sorry, but the original song is by the Vard sisters and Westlife. Noone reputable will have covered it - maybe it's a different song they're thinking of then?

Of course they made *that* themselves, it sounds like the music from that bloody Coke advert! It doesn't even bear too much resemblance to the song to be honest!
    'Music
    Artist Jess Bailey, Graeme Perkins
    Title Shared Belief'
You just answered your own question. It wasn't based on the song, and was made specifically for your advert.

There's a short clip of the original by Saint-Saens here:

That song was also in the film 'Babe' (the one based on the sheep pig)

This version was a hit in 1978:

The sound you can hear in the background is probably Saint-Saens turning in his grave.
Edit: I take it that was the 'reggae duet version' that was referred to in the opening post.

    Hi all,
My grandmother really likes the song from the Thomas Cook adverts 'If I had words', and she thought the original was by Cat Stevens but I don't think it is.
I'm trying to download it for her but all I can find is a reggae duet version, classical and the sped up one the mice in 'Babe' sing. And is the advert one what they've created themselves or is my gran in fact correct in thinking there's another original?
Confusing, I know, Jeeves isn't much help, I'm really hoping someone on here will know.
Its a long shot but if anyone could help it would be appreciated

No mention here of versions that haven't already been referred to in this thread:

Several versions on Spotify, Scott Fitzgerald's is the most popular.

After all that, my dad has decided its probably the Scott Fitzgerald one he was thinking of, my gran is confused and has given up and gone to bed and I'm a bit sick of hearing all the different versions!
    Honestly, old folks!
    Thanks for all your help:)

I thought that as well but think that's the First Choice advert where they build the beach.
