Jan 21, 2010 I have Tiger OS 10.4.11. Which version of iweb application is compatible to start and where can I - Answered by a verified Mac Support Specialist We use cookies to give you the best possible experience on our website. When Apple came out with Leopard (10.5), I took the plunge and bought Tiger (10.4.x), and now my iBook is running on 10.4.11, and I've experienced no problems whatsoever. This laptop (12' screen, 1.2 GHz PowerPC G4, 768 MB DDR SDRAM, upgradable to 1.2 GB) is a couple years old (purchased in 2005), and, obvioiusly, uses the old PowerPC processor. January 9, 2001 iDVD was bundled with the G4/733 PowerMac with built-in Superdrives. Future versions of iDVD were bundled with Macs with built-in Superdrives, and later when iLife was first released with iLife itself.

MacOS Big Sur (version 11.0) is the next major release of macOS, Apple Inc.' S operating system for Macintosh computers. It is the successor to macOS Catalina (version 10.15) and was announced at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference on June 22, 2020, with public beta release scheduled for July and general release projected for fall. Sep 08, 2009 Id appreciate any help on upgrading from Mac OS X 10.4.11 running on an IMac 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Ultimately I'd like to upgrade this machine to Lion after I get snow up and running. I'd gladly pay up to 75 for the Leopard but the cheapest I have found it is priced at around 200.

July 18th, 2001 iDVD 2 was bundled with the current G4s that had Superdrives.

January 7, 2002 iPhoto 1 was bundled with retail 10.1 and iMovie 2 was also bundled with 10.1 retail. Of course they were also bundled with Macs in the same time period.

August 24, 2002, iPhoto and iMovie continued to be bundled with Mac OS X 10.2 retail when that was released as well as new Macs that shipped with 10.2.

January 7, 2003 iPhoto 2 and iMovie 3 were released with the original iLife. October 25, 2003 they were also bundled 10.3 retail when that was released. iDVD 3 was released and bundled with Macs that shipped with a Superdrive.

Garageband was introduced with iLife '04.

January 11, 2005 iLife '05 applications of iTunes, iPhoto, and iMovie were released and included as part of Panther installer discs.

April 25, 2005 iPhoto and iMovie were no longer included with Mac OS X retail with the release of 10.4.

August 7, 2007 iLife '08 released.

December 15, 2008 iLife prebundled with special Mac OS X retail labelled 'Mac Box Set', not to be confused for the full retail box that only includes the operating system DVD.

Newer versions of iLife are available on the Mac App Store that support Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks. Check http://www.roaringapps.com/ and the iLife forum for experiences:

When iLife was bundled with a specific Mac, and is not included with a specific retail version of Mac OS X as indicated above, these restore directions let you install those iLife applications from the original restore discs which shipped with the specific Mac:

Another user tip addresses the issue of new Macs not coming with iDVD:

This is the 3rd version of this tip. It was submitted on October 11, 2011 by a brody.

Although OS X 10.7 Lion, 10.8 Mountain Lion, and 10.9 Mavericks have each replaced it in turn, there are good reasons you may want to (or even need to) have Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

  1. You need to be running Snow Leopard to order, download, and install Lion, Mountain Lion, and Mavericks, which are available through the Mac App Store.
  2. OS X 10.6 is the last version of OS X to support Rosetta, which allows use of software written for PowerPC Macs (AppleWorks, Quicken, Microsoft Office 2004 and earlier, other discontinued apps, legacy versions of current software, etc.)
  3. If you have a Core Solo or Core Duo Mac (most of them introduced in the first half of 2006), OS X 10.6 is the last version of OS X they can run.

Snow Leopard retailed for $29 for a single user or $49 for a 5-user family pack. We think anyone with an Intel Mac and still running OS X 10.4 Tiger or 10.5 Leopard should consider upgrading 10.6 Snow Leopard if you have at least 1.5 GB of memory (any less than that and 10.5 Leopard is your best bet) – although there are some areas where 10.5 is a better choice.

The Mac Box Set includes Mac OS X, iLife 09 or 11 (iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, and iWeb), and iWork 09 (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote). The Box Set is a great deal if you need apps from both bundles.

iLife 09 requires OS X 10.5.6 or later. iWork 09 requires OS X 10.4.11, the last version of Tiger, or 10.5.6 or later. Both are compatible with both PowerPC and Intel Macs. iLife 11 requires OS X 10.6.3 and only works with Intel Macs.

Apple no longer sells iLife on disc. iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand are now Mac App Store exclusives. Each sells for $14.99 and works with OS X 10.6.8 or later. iWeb has been discontinued.

While you can still buy the entire iLife package on disc, and Apple also sells the individual apps (for those who don’t need all three) via the Mac App Store: Pages, Numbers, and Keynote each sell for $19.99 and require OS X 10.6.6 or later – and Mavericks users can download the latest version, which requires Mavericks, for free.

  • Our Leopard Group is for those using Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6.

Mac OS X 10.6 arrived on August 28, 2009, and it further raised the bar on hardware – every Intel Mac introduced prior to Mid-2010 with at least 1 GB of RAM can run it (although it won’t run well with just 1 GB), but no PowerPC Macs can.
