I am working on the Git Basics course and am having problems installing Git on my Mac. I have a Mac OS X version 10.7.5, which is not compatible with the available version of XCode (needs to be 10.10 or later), that was recommended by Michael Hulet here: https://teamtreehouse.com/community/where-on-my-mac-is-the-git-program. Is there is anything I can do to combat this so I can still use git on my current Mac? Thanks, V.
There's a common issue with git and 10.7.5. It's likely that your OS version and the git version you're trying to install are incompatible. There are three ways to tackle it:
- Upgrade your OS to the latest version, then install git
- Install a version of git that's compatible with your 10.7.5 OS (I think this is the vesion you need: https://code.google.com/p/git-osx-installer/downloads/detail?name=git-22.214.171.124-intel-universal-snow-leopard.dmg&can=2&q=)
- Use Homebrew to choose and install a version (http://brew.sh/)
try any or all of those. Good luck!
