PowerBook, Mac OS X (10.4.11) Posted on Jul 20, 2012 3:53 AM Reply I have this question too ( 20 ) I have this question too Me too (20) Me too. As Apple refines Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and moves closer to the release of 10.6 Snow Leopard, the 10.4 Tiger version of OS X seems destined to fade into computing history. However there are many compelling and unique features in Tiger that make it an ideal or necessary OS on some Macs. May 28, 2016 I saved a few parts, and ended up assembling a working PowerBook G4, although it does have a few issues, as I explain in the video. This video details the install process of Mac OS X 10.5,.
Ensure your data (at least all Home folders) is backed up before you install. Hard disks can fail at any time so it is important to regularly backup to an external disk with Time Machine or a third party alternative. Inexperienced users should follow Apple's install advice but experienced users may prefer to do a clean install.

Here, you’ll learn how to get back to OS X in the event you’ve used Boot Camp to install and use Windows on your Mac.There are one of two primary methods that we tested. We recently toyed around with Boot Camp, loading Windows 8.1 on, and found that getting back into OS X from Microsoft’s desktop operating system may not exactly be straightforward for everyone. That’s why we’re putting this quick guide together. If you’re already in Windows via Boot Camp, you need to right-click on the Boot Camp icon in the bottom right hand corner of the Taskbar in the classic desktop UI. Installing Windows on a Mac and dual booting it with OS X via Boot Camp is one thing, but what do you do if you want to boot back into OS X from Windows? But perhaps you’ve only recently introduced yourself to it.

Upgrade to Leopard
Those wishing to upgrade to Leopard should be aware that install disks can be expensive unless you contact Apple. Details: http://lowendmac.com/deals/best-os-x-leopard-prices.html Standard Leopard installers impose several hardware limitations including speed and RAM size but all these restrictions can be overcome. Google for details. Leopard works well at 500 MHz with 1 GB of RAM and many happy users have less than this.
Upgrade beyond Leopard
OSs beyond OS X 10.5.8 require an Intel processor. If in doubt check this: Click the apple at the top left of your screen and select 'About this Mac'. This will give you your OS number. Then click 'More Info' to see which processor you have. If it says PowerPC you cannot upgrade to Snow Leopard and above. If you have an Intel Mac it is well worth upgrading to Snow Leopard now and then considering other options after that. You can buy Snow Leopard here: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A
